Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director

Dr. Kaberuka was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in October 2016 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board.

Dr. Kaberuka is currently the African Union High Representative for the Financing and Peace Fund, a Hauser Leader-in-Residence, Harvard Kennedy School, Mo Ibrahim Foundation board member, and a member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee for the Rockefeller Foundation. He is also a Senior Adviser to the global private equity firm, TPGSatya, as well as the global advisory firm Boston Consulting Group.

He was formerly the President and Chairman of the African Development Bank, a position he held from 2005 to 2015. He also served as the Minister for Finance in Rwanda where he led the economic team within the Government of Rwanda also as the Governor for Rwanda for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.

Dr. Kaberuka holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.

Executive Director

Mr. James Mworia is the Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Centum Investment Company Plc, a position he has held since October 2008.

He serves on several boards, including those of Sidian Bank Limited and Almasi Beverages Limited, where he serves as Chairman.

He is also associated with Nairobi Bottlers Limited, Isuzu East Africa Limited, and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

Mr. Mworia holds director positions in Centum Exotics Limited, Investpool Holdings Limited, Centum Development Company Limited, and Two Rivers Lifestyle Centre Limited.

He was appointed as Chancellor of Machakos University in October 2016.

Mr. Mworia holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Doctorate in Business (Honoris Causa) from Machakos University.

He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a CFA Charter Holder, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, a Fellow of the Kenyan Institute of Management, and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

Vice Chairperson

Dr. Macharia was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in October 2013, and currently serves as the Vice Chairperson of the board of directors, Chairperson of the Nomination & Governance Committee, as well as a member of the Risk and Finance & Investment Committees.

Dr. Macharia is currently a Serial Entrepreneur and Angel Investor backing upcoming entrepreneurs in media, education, data analytics and financial technology. She is also a Non- Executive Director at Barclays Bank of Kenya Limited.

Prior to this, she worked as Chief Executive Officer of Scion Real, a consultancy firm in project finance and at Kaplan & Stratton, a top-tier Kenyan law firm, on transactions in Kenya, South Africa and Uganda. She also served as a Senior Regional Advisor at USAID-East Africa and worked at the helm of the Africa Initiative at the Global Fund for Women in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee

Andrew Mukite Musangi obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of Hull (UK) in 1993 was admitted to the Bar in Kenya in 1995. He has been actively engaged in legal practice for the last 26 years.

Mukite is a seasoned legal practitioner focused mainly on corporate and commercial law. His practice areas include Mergers and Acquisitions, Debt Recovery and Restructuring; Securities, Insurance litigation; Employment and Labour law; Commercial Arbitration; Intellectual Property (with emphasis on Anti-counterfeit matters); Public Procurement; Public Private Partnerships; Conveyancing and Company law.

Mukite has extensive Corporate experience having served as a strategic adviser to several corporate clients both local and multi-national. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at GenAfrica Asset Managers (formerly a Centum group Company) which has Assets Under Management in excess of USD $3 billion. He also serves as the Chairman of the Public Procurement Regulatory Board.

He also has extensive experience in property and land matters and has represented various high- profile clients with extensive land holdings in the region.

Non - Executive Director

Ms. Catherine Mturi – Wairi was appointed a Non-Executive Director on the 31st of March 2022 and currently serves as a member of the Audit Committee and the Risk Committee.

Ms. Mturi-Wairi is a respected business leader who brings with her three decades of experience in finance and accounting. She has a track record of successfully developing and executing successful business strategies, strengthening investment portfolios, and driving organizational success.

Ms. Mturi-Wairi presently serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Vipingo Development Plc. and Sidian Bank Limited. She is formerly the Managing Director of Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) where she led the development and execution of KPAs long term strategy. In her 23 years of service at KPA, Ms. Mturi-Wairi served in various capacities including General Manager of Finance. In her tenure, she chaired the KPA Change Management Steering Committee, served in the Corporation Tender Committee, and served as a member of the Information Technology Steering Committee.

Ms. Mturi-Wairi holds an MBA in Strategic Management from United States International University (USIU), BSc. in Finance and Accounting, USIU, is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, Certified Public Secretary of Kenya, and a Certified SAP Consultant.

She is a member of the Institute of Directors of Kenya, Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), where she serves in the ICPAK ad-hoc Review Committee and the Public Finance and Taxation Committee—ICPAK Coast Branch. She is also a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries, Kenya Institute of Management, Women in Marine Sector in East and Southern Africa and Association of Women Accountants of Kenya.

Chair of the Audit Committee and Independent Non - Executive Director

Dr. Ikiara was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in November 2017 and is currently the acting Managing Director of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS). Dr. Ikiara serves as a member of the Risk, Audit and Finance & Investment Committees.

He is also a Director of Elimu Holdings Limited, Centum Exotics Limited and Kilele Holdings Limited.

Dr. Ikiara was previously the Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) as well as former Executive Director at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), having started as a Policy Analyst at the same Institute. He was formerly a lecturer and research fellow at the School of Environmental Studies, Moi University.

Dr. Ikiara holds a PhD in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (First Class Honors) both from the University of Nairobi.

Non - Executive Director

Mr. Byaruhanga was appointed as a Non-Executive Director in October 2016 and serves as a member of the Nomination & Governance Committee.

Hon. William Byaruhanga is the Attorney General of the Republic of Uganda, a position he assumed in June 2016. Prior to his appointment as the Attorney General, he was the Principal Partner, Kasirye, Byaruhanga and Company Advocates, where he specialised in Investments and Corporate Finance Law.

Hon. Byaruhanga holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Uganda. He is a member of the Ugandan and East African Law Society.

Representative of KDC

Ms. Ratemo is the representative for Kenya Development Corporation Limited (KDC) in the Board of Centum Investment Company Plc. effective January 2023.

Ms. Ratemo serves as the Ag. Director General of Kenya Development Corporation (KDC) and a Board Member with over 13 years’ experience in Credit Risk Management. She previously worked at Eco Bank Kenya as a Credit analyst, and before then, she was engaged as Assistant Manager, Securities and Documentation with Sidian Bank. She currently serves on the board of Kenya Wines Agencies.

Ms. Ratemo holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration Finance option from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Bachelor of commerce (Bcom) Accounting option. She is a Certified Public Accountant, CPA (K) and a member of the institute of certified public accountants (ICPAK) and Association of Women Accountants in Kenya.

Chair of the Nominations and Governance Committee & Independent Non - Executive Director

Mr. SSegawa is a seasoned Human Resource expert with over 26 years of experience across private and public organizations.

Mr. SSegawa serves as the Group Human Resources Director of Equity Bank Limited and has previously held the position of Chief Human Resources Officer in Living Goods, Oxfam International, African Development Bank, Airtel Africa, Coca Cola, Unilever and Standard Bank Group.

Mr. SSegawa holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Leicester and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Social Work and Social Administration from Makerere University.

Chair of the Risk Committee & Independed Non - Executive Director

Mr. Kiplagat is a seasoned Board Member and Corporate Leader with over 30 years of experience accross private, public and non-governmental organizations.

Currently serving as Group Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director for East Africa at Africapractice, Mr. Richard Kiplagat has consistently demonstrated exceptional stakeholder management skills and strategic advisory capabilities to business and government leaders, particularly in the infrastructure, Energy and Extractive Sectors.

Mr. Kiplagat holds a specialist degree with emphasis on Political Economy of Developing Countries and a Bacherlor of Arts (Honors) in Political Science and Economics from the University of Toronto, Canada.
